Light Therapy |
|
|
The definition of light therapy is to use bright, full spectrum light in order to reduce the levels of the sleep hormone called melatonin to treat S.A.D, or Seasonal Affective Disorder. Melatonin is reduced when the light enters one’s eyes and stimulates the pineal gland. This helps combat the symptoms of S.A.D., including depression, fatigue, and interrupted sleep patterns. Other applications include Jet Lag, Insomnia, A.D.D., Autism, and Sleep Disorders. Light therapy may be administered through the use of a traditional light box or through specialized desk and floor lamps that provide the amount of light intensity required for safe and effective light therapy treatment. The measurement for intensity is called Lux. The medical community has designated 10,000 Lux as the proper intensity for light therapy. 10,000 Lux is light that is 10-20 times brighter than average room light. All of Full Spectrum Solutions’ light therapy products produce this intensity. Full Spectrum Solutions is the only company manufacturing fully dimmable light therapy products that avoid side effects such as dryness of the eyes and headaches.
